JOURNAL SPOTLIGHT INTERVIEW
Enjoy a short video interview with Sarvesh Agrawal, first author of "Defining Immersion, Literature Review and Implications for Research on Audiovisual Experiences" published in the June 2020 issue of the AES Journal.
Here Sarvesh discusses the challenges he encountered when trying to arrive at a useful definition of immersion for the audio-visual community. Immersion is a hot topic at the moment, being relevant to virtual reality, immersive audio, and other related applications, but people use the term rather casually. Based on a literature review, Sarvesh discusses cognitive versus perceptual immersion, and the possibility that immersion might be a property of audio systems. He also introduces some possible ways in which immersion might be evaluated.
