Immersion is a hot topic at the moment, being relevant to virtual reality, immersive audio, and other related applications, but people use the term rather casually. Based on a literature review, Sarvesh discusses cognitive versus perceptual immersion, and the possibility that immersion might be a property of audio systems. He also introduces some possible ways in which immersion might be evaluated.
