Document Thumbnail

The paper reviews the influence of structural features upon the performance of magnetic tape ring heads. After a brief discussion of some recording problems in general and a comparison of different methods, the geometric and magnetic significance of certain parts of a ring head structure is explained, including the gap effect and contour effect. Additional aspects regarding the selection of core materials and structural details in accordance with the presented thoughts are then illustrated by the description of construction and performance of a commercially produced magnetic transducer head.
