The Voice Interference Analysis Set, an Instrument for Determining the Degradation of Signal Quality of a Voice Communications Channel

Document Thumbnail

Conventional signal-to-noise ratio measurements do not provide the psychoacoustically-weighted measurement necessary for proper evaluation of the interference encountered in voice communications channels. This paper describes two systems developed to replace the -listener tests- usually needed for correct measurement of intelligibility. The newer system, which completes a measurement cycle in only 30 seconds, is described in detail.
