Several perceptual measurement schemes have been presented in recent years. They all consist of an analysis filter bank and a more or less complex psychoacoustic model. Time and frequency resolution of the complete measurement system are both limited by the filter bank. The time and frequency resolutions of several filter banks are compared with the perceptual requirements. Especially the time resolution of most perceptual measurement systems has been found to be insufficient.
