Design procedures are presented for loudspeaker crossover networks that, by interacting with the driver's parametrs, equalize its response into that of a second-order high-pass filter suitable for further equalization. After impedance correction by a further network, the equalizer driver is cascaded with a simple passive equalizer and thena conventional ladder filter to produce the required overall higher order response. An alternative method simplifies the second equalization process by a minor modification of the ladder filter. The input impedances presented by crossover filters are investigated. The procedures combine certainty of design with economy of components.
