Techniques for Achieving Wide Dynamic Range in Magnetic Recorders

Document Thumbnail

Magnetic heads, tape, bias circuitry and input amplifiers are optimized for the best subjective dynamic range with 15 ips tape speed. A test arrangement for comparing noise and distortion effects from equalization curves for several program materials is described and prototype high quality solid state circuits are briefly described as used in the design of a magnetic recorder with 70 db dynamic range.
