As proved by many recordings, artificial-head recordings have acquired a professional standard over the last few years. In practice, however, sound engineers often encounter the problem of working on different records, of mixing additional sound sources, or of creating a head-related recording using normal multimicrophone techniques. A binaural processor is described that permits different artificial-head recordings to be mixed, allows head-related recordings to be created using normal microphones, and provides for head-related reverberation to be added to existing recordings.
