Large Arrays: Measured Free-Field Polar Patterns Compared to a Theoretical Model of a Curved Surface Source

Document Thumbnail

A method used to measure horizontal and vertical polar patterns of large arrays under actual free-field conditions is described. Ways in which the polar patterns of loudspeaker arrays deviate from a theoretical model of a curved-surface source are discussed; thus the concept of arrayability is introduced. Criteria for arrayability are suggested.
