Measuring AES-EBU Digital Audio Interfaces

Document Thumbnail

The AES-EBU digital audio interface has been slow to gain market acceptance, partly because of interface complexity, specification ambiguities, lack of commercial ICs, and the effort required for discrete implementations. This has prompted implementation shortcuts, such as using consumer-style interface ICs, which frequently results in product incompatibilities. Fundamental interface parameters and their problems are described. Methods of testing interface integrity and simple checks of implementation completeness are discussed.
