A new communications interface and device control language are described. Both are the result of a study into the remote control and monitoring needs of large installed sound systems such as those in convention centers, multipurpose civic arenas, sports stadiums, airports, and hotels. The hardware is inexpensive, fast, reliable, and able to independently control and monitor hundreds of devices at distances of up to 1.2 km (4000 ft). Currently 23 organizations are participating and wider participation is invited.
