A Computer Model of Binaural Localization for Stereo Imaging Measurement

Document Thumbnail

A binaural localization model has been developed for measuring the stereo imaging properties of recording and playback techniques. Ear signals from a dummy head are passed through a model of the inner ear, and interaural time and amplitude differences are extracted and processed to give image location and diffuseness. Experiments show that the model emulates human performance under anechoic and reverberant conditions.
