Stereophonic Sound for the Videotape Recorder

The videotape recorder, now the American standard machine for local clock-time rectification of network programs, required the addition of stereophonic record and playback facilities when AM-TV stereo broadcasting began in the fall of 1958. The manner in which this was accomplished is described, and the performance attainments revealed.
