Stereophonic Patterns

Document Thumbnail

By matrixing the two channels of a stereophonic signal and applying the sum (L+R) signal to the horizontal plates and the differences (L-R) signal to the vertical plates of an oscilloscope, a pattern is traced which portrays the stylus-tip motion in a 45-45° record. This is helpful in studying important relationships in stereophonic transmission, recording, and reproduction.
