A noise-dependent sound reproduction circuit consists of two parts; a noise sensor and a (volume or compression) control circuit. Several possible sensors are discussed. A vibration sensor appears to be the best choice for in-car application. The noise-dependent volume and compression circuits have been implemented in a digital signal processor. The reproduction of speech and music is significantly improved by using the circuits in a car.
