The generation of pops by human speech is not adequately reproducible for measurement purposes. Therefore standard test equipment and measuring methods had to be developed. The test equipment (a dynamic loudspeaker with a well-defined jet hole mounted in a plate) generates an air flow similar to human plosives in a reproducible manner. The reponse of the microphone under test is digitized and stored on a PC disk for further evaluation.
