Closed-Box Loudspeaker System Equalization and Power Requirements

Document Thumbnail

An analog electronic model of the closed-box system is designed with variable basic parameters. Equalization by means of motional feedback is applied to simulate a closed-box system with resonance frequency f(c)=30 Hz and Q (tc) -total Q at f(c)- =0.7. The bass lift characteristics for different combinations of th basic parameters are analyzed using music signals. The requirements for amplifier peak power and driver thermal power capacity are determined and compared. It is found that low-frequency equalization changes the statistical parameters of the music signals so that the peak power remains almost unchanged although the average power increases.
