Dipole Radiator Systems

A number of baffle systems, such as sealed and vented boxes, horns, and labyrinths (that is, "transmission lines"), have been scrutinized with ever increasing detail during the last thirty years. However, there is one baffle type that has received relatively little attention-the open baffle or dipole system format. Several important operational principles of this system type are examined using several contemporary concepts of system behavior. Particular emphasis is given to Dr. Richard Small's system efficiency constant efficiency constant, sometimes called the system "figure of merit," as a performance guage.
