Computer processing of performed monophonic music can now be done at sophisticated levels leading to succinct visual displays and sound output capabilities. Automatically identifying the partials, pitch contour, and musical notes played on a traditional musical instrument allows for color and three-dimensional graphics, music notation, and animated film displays of the music.
