A Three-Dimensional Interferometric Vibrational Mode Display

Document Thumbnail

When the beam from a laser vibration interferometer is optically raster scanned over a vibrating surface, a phase-sensitive detector provides velocity information at any phase of the motion. These data are digitally processed and a hard copy print gives a three-dimensional isometric view of the complete vibrating surface of the test object frozen in time.
