Alignment of Filter-Assisted Vented-Box Loudspeaker Systems with Enclosure Losses

Document Thumbnail

The effects of enclosure losses on the determination of alignment parameters for filter-assisted vented-box loudspeaker systems are discussed. An analysis of fifth- and sixth-order transfer functions is presented assuming that all system losses may be lumped together as a single leakage loss factor Q(1). The effects of various degrees of loss on system parameters is examined, and multidimensional charts relating alignment parameters and loss are presented for a wide variety of classical fifth- and sixth-order alignments. Finally alignment tables and charts for fifth- and sixth-order alignments with a loss factor of Q(1) = 7 (the most typical value found in practice) are presented.
