The technique of exciting an electroacoustic system by low-level broadband noise and evaluating the cross correlation function has been used to obtain the impulse response of loudspeakers. The accuracy of the newly designed analog correlator used for these studies is documented utilizing bandpass filters of known response. The use of the impulse response of the system provides an accurate and easily reproducible method for measuring linear distortion.
