The effect of modulating the temporal pattern of some infinitely clipped speech words was examined. Many words change their power spectrum structure as a result of the modulation, and some become different words entirely. Thus altering the temporal pattern of infinitely clipped speech words can result in entirely new words and, therefore, a loss of intelligibility.
