Computer-Aided Loudspeaker System Design: Part 2: Determination of System Power Ratings and Some Design Examples Using Optimization Techniques

Document Thumbnail

The use of computer techniques for the determination of the displacement-limited power ratings and large-signal parameters of a direct-radiator loudspeaker system is discussed. The effects of the crossover network and the spectral properties of theinput signal on the power ratings, and large-signal parameters are considered, practical examples being given for single-driver and multiple-driver loudspeaker systems. To illustrate the optimization method discussed in Part 1, three examples are given of the design of an enclosure for a given driver. The measured sound-pressure/frequency responses of these systems are given, and compared with the responses calculated from the system analogous circuits.
