To obtain the maximum utilization of a studio, it is important that the studio be free from external noise sources so that there is complete feasibility in scheduling. The elimination of noise in a studio starts from the very beginning with the selection of the site where noise levels can be controlled with reasonable building structures. It is then important to make preliminary allowances for noise control in the overall building design and select the design goal which is to be utilized for noise levels within the studio rooms. General guidelines are given for wall and ceiling construction necessary to isolate the studios from exterior noise, from interior noise sources which may be in adjacent spaces, and for the control of mechanical equipment noise.
