A Polyphonic Keyboard for a Voltage-Controlled Music Synthesizer

The criteria used in the design of a polyphonic keyboard, including outputs to be generated, type of keyboard contacts to be used, contact bounce suppression, speed of operation, accuracy of output information, and channel assignment algorithms, are discussed. A description of the circuits used to meet these requirements is given and their operation is explained.
