Since the development of the seven-inch 16-2/3 rpm extra fine groove record, further investigations have been carried out in this field. It has been found possible to double the amount of spoken word information that could be stored on that size record. Some of the underlying theories will be presented and demonstrations will show how near the theoretical limit current results are. Significant portions of this work have been carried out under the auspices of the American Foundation for the Blind.
