A switching and routing facility has been designed and fabricated to aid in the demonstration of aural material presented at the semiannual conventions of the Audio Engineering Society. The equipment is used to provide an interface between the multichannel audio console and up to five pairs of stereo loudspeakers used in the technical-session hall, thereby allowing the instantaneous switching of the power-amplifier outputs between loudspeaker pairs. Design and operational features of the switching facility are discussed, and measurement data of performance under load given.
