The column loudspeaker has been used widely in Europe and is finding increasing acceptance in this country. The evolution of the column loudspeaker is discussed, a three-line-array column loudspeaker which has been specifically designed for reinforcement of performing arts ensembles is introduced. Design criteria, performance measurements, and applications to concert-hall requirements are discussed.
