A recently designed public address system for aircraft use is described. The system utilizes distributed loudspeakers and is designed to provide aesthetically pleasing, high-quality boarding music plus intelligible and natural speech announcements. Detailed performance goals were formulated to achieve the desired electroacoustic characteristics and assure compatibility with aircraft operational requirements. The system includes a novel method of power distribution within the aircraft.
