Suggested Performance Requirements for Compatible Four-Channel Recording

Document Thumbnail

The quadraphonic recording is capable of more effective simulation of the live sound event than monophonic and two-channel stereophonic methods, reproducing all sounds from their original directions around the listener to create an illusion of the original acoustical environment-studio, concert hall, etc. For widespread industry acceptance, however, this same quadraphonic recording must give equally good results as a stereo and a mono recording.
