Analyzing Phase-Amplitude Matrices

Document Thumbnail

Objectively verifiable mathematical relationships show that the standard two channels of the stereo record or broadcast can be made to carry both left-right and front-rear information by means of matrixing techniques. This new possibility poses unlimited creative opportunity for the record producer, and is available to the entire stereo audience without special pickups, receivers, or FCC rulings. When this process is understood as well as we now understand conventional left-right stereo, every stereo recording will carry the total auditory environment of the recorded event.
