Quadraphonic One Point Pickup Microphone

Document Thumbnail

Methods for picking up quadraphonic sounds have not yet been thoroughly investigated. At present, four unidirectional microphones are being used. It is obvious, however, that some kind of quadraphonic one-point pickup microphone will become necessary in the near future, as it was the case with the stereophonic one-point pickup microphone. A microphone with four diaphragms whose principal axes are perpendicular to each other in a plane is studied by means of equivalent electric circuits of the vibrating system. It is shown that the microphone can be a quadraphonic one-point pickup microphone with four unidirectional patterns. The measured results of experimental quadraphonic capacitor microphones agree well with predicted results from the analysis.
