The growing use of the directivity factor Q for determination of critical distance, limiting distance, articulation loss of consonants, attenuation with increasing distance, ratios of direct-to-reverberant sound, loudspeaker efficiencies, and, therefore, its inclousion in specifications makes it advisable to adopt a standard approach to its measurement. This paper details such a method already in use by a major manufacturer, and encourages its adoption by the industry as a whole [1]-[7].
