Tracing error is prevented from appearing in disc-record playback if the skew-sampling compensator proposed by Cooper is used in recording. Such a machine has been developed. Its specifications and principles of operation in reltion to the skew-coordinate theory of tracing error are described. Examples of experimental data showing achievable distortion reductions are given.
