The capabilities of the ordinary 33 1/2 rpm phonograph record for high information packing density, ease of handling and cheapness of quantity reproduction have been utilized in the development of a still-picture television system called Phonovid. Up to 400 still pictures with accompanying audio can be recorded on a 12-in. record. The played-back signal, when processed through a scan converter, is a standard EIA television signal.
