Scale modeling as a means of predicting full-scale performance is in widespread use today. It affords a means of investigating interrelations among design parameters on an inexpensive, small, working replica of the full-scale device and is a vital tool in design. This paper illustrates some techniques of scale modeling in three areas of acoustics-acoustics of rooms, noise production of jets, and vibration in structures. Dynamically similar systems are developed using the methods of dimensional analysis. Photographs of scale model auditoriums and illustrations of data are presented.
