Document Thumbnail

This paper describes the design and development of the Minnie Guggenheimer Shell used by the New York Philharmonic and the Metropolitan Opera to present free outdoor summer concerts to audiences of up to 70,000 people in each of the five boroughs of New York City. This portable concert hall system has been in operation for five years, since the summer of 1965, and is the only one of its kind in the world.
