Methods of Measuring Surface Induction of Magnetic Tape - Actually Surface Flux

Document Thumbnail

The term surface flux is defined as the recorded signal on the tape. If it can be measured, a method of obtaining the frequency characteristic of the recording system is available so that recorders and tape can be accurately calibrated and the standardization of recording characteristics facilitated. Methods of measuring surface flux are presented with a discussion of their merits. Results of laboratory experiments are included to illustrate the problems.
