Acoustical Considerations Concerning New York State Theater

Document Thumbnail

Experiences in a concert studio in Copenhagen led to the establishment of rise time (in msec) or steepness (in msec/db) as a criterion which may be useful for judging musical quality in an auditorium. Also, it was considered useful as a quantity which could be studied in advance in a 1:10 scale model of the New York State Theater. Results obtained in the model are comparable to those measured in the finished auditorium. The values obtained are believed to be in a favorable range.
