Some aspects of the Technical Standards adopted by the Federal Communications Commission for stereophonic broadcasting are reviewed. The phase mismatch between the main channel signal and the sidebands envelope, and the influence of amplitude mismatch on the separation capabilities of a system are discussed. The influence of the pilot phase on the separation is indicated. Several expressions are completely derived, showing continuity and interrelation among the results of other writers on the subject.
