A laboratory model of the wireless 'Communications EarPlug' (w-CEP) was development. Standard communication earplugs (using wires) are known to offer relatively good intelligibility of intercom speech at high ambient noise levels. The intercome sound is produced by means of a comercially available miniature transducer, integrated in the earplug. The w-CEP prototype performs well, in near compliance with the many constraints imposed by military aviation.
