This paper deals primarily with observations and measurements pertaining to the operation of a continuous-loop type of cartridge that utilizes an internal pressure roller and a magnetic tape one quarter inch wide, with eight recorded tracks operating at a tape speed of 3 3/4 ips. Observations and measurements show that acceptable results can be obtained with narrow, closely spaced magnetic tracks when due consideration is given to the design aspects of the cartridge and player.
