Survey of Methods for Measuring Speech Quality

The general problem of defining and measuring the subjective quality of processed speech is discussed. The recent literature is reviewed, revealing the existence of two experimental approaches. One of these is primarily concerned with methods for obtaining over-all judgments of speech quality, while the other is represented by analytical procedures for determining the basic factors that influence such judgments.
