Language Laboratory Without Earphones

Document Thumbnail

A novel concept for teaching languages using loudspeakers in student practice booths governed the design of a new language center. Sound isolation between booths was an integral part of the design. Problems and experiences in providing flexible communications between sixty-three booths and three central -transmission rooms- are discussed. This paper discusses the central transmission equipment which interconnects the individual student booths at the Middlebury College Language Center. The individual booths are discussed by William R. Lewis in another paper at this session.
