A Selective Sound Receiving Microphone System Using Blind Source Separation

Document Thumbnail

A new microphone system using two microphones and blind source separation is described. The system can separate objective sound and environmental noise in the same direction, then output them in real time. There is no degradation of tonal quality because of signal processing. When the sound and noise are mutually independent and the microphones pick up a linear combination of the two, an estimate can be made of the mixing matrix coefficients by minimizing the cross-correlation of output : signals.
