This paper presents the electronic aspect of the speech compression research with the use of a digital computer. The author describes the hardware as well as software programs of synthesizing the compressed speech with AD and DA converters attached to IBM data processing systems through the Direct Data Channel. This work was derived from his Ph.D. research work at the University of South Carolina.
