Sound Compression/Interpolation by Granulation

Sound granulation was originally proposed in 1946 for narrow-band communication, and it has been applied to electroacoustic music since the 1970s. The technique is similar to wavelet transformation used in signal processing with some philosophical differences. In the 1980s, this technique was implemented in digital media and applied for time compression and expansion of sound that leads to compression and reconstruction.:
