Surface diffusion and edge scattering are wavy phenomena which are usually badly reproduced by room acoustics software, based on geometrical acoustics assumptions. This paper presents some recent improvements to the pyramid tracing algorithm, which take into account the scattering of sound from the edges of finite-size surfaces as well as the surface diffusion coefficient (as defined and measured in a parallel paper).:
