Digital television with multichannel audio promises to significantly improve the viewing experience for consumers. Unfortunately, most existing broadcast industry infrastructure have been designed only for stereo, making it difficult to deliver multichannel audio content to the point of transmission. This paper outlines the technical requirements for multichannel audio distribution and emission in digital television applications and describes a system designed to meet these requirements.:
