Research on the physiological reaction of the human ear to sound pressure from (1) a loudspeaker system operating in a free field and (2) earphones coupled closely to the entrance of the human ear. Headsets are commonly tested with the ASA Z 24.5-1951 standardized 6 cc coupler which by no means represents a reconstruction of the human ear and does not simulate ear impedance above 600 Hz.
